Shinrin-yoku is the Japanese practice of seeking a deeper connection with nature by spending intentional time surrounded by trees.  I frequently find the imagery of the forest asserting itself in my work.  I am drawn to the negative spaces between the trees, the patterns of light, the turn of the seasons.  I find the process of creating a painting not unlike a walk through the woods.
